Three Different Types of Ethanol Fireplaces

Coen KeilyBy Coen KeilyJuly 28, 2023No Comments5 Mins Read

Whether you’re building a new home, remodeling an old one, or adding character to a commercial space, an ethanol fireplace can add a cozy touch to any room. However, as with any other type of fire, be sure to follow some safety precautions to prevent a fire. This article will explain the safety precautions and the benefits of ethanol fireplaces. It will also cover the different types of ethanol fireplaces, and give you an idea of their costs and sizes.

Table-top ethanol fireplaces

A table-top ethanol fireplace is an excellent way to warm up your home while keeping it stylish. Table-top fireplaces are portable, convenient, and make for a great centerpiece. You can find models that are made from wood, glass, or metal. If you’d like to purchase a table-top fireplace but don’t know where to start, read on to learn about three options that will help you choose the perfect option.

Bioethanol is a renewable resource and can range in size from three to twenty thousand BTU. A smaller bioethanol fire can produce noticeable heat in a small room, whereas a larger gel fuel fire would struggle to do so. An environmentally friendly fireplace is another excellent option for anyone concerned about their home’s carbon footprint. And since bioethanol is more environmentally friendly than gas, this fuel is a great choice. Not only is it cheaper to burn than propane, but it also produces less smoke and toxins.

Environmental impact of ethanol fireplaces

Ethanol fireplaces have been gaining popularity in the past decade, thanks to their numerous benefits. But the environmental impact of ethanol is not without controversy. In a recent study, scientists from Franhofer-Gesselschaft and Science Daily published a paper warning consumers about the dangers of ethanol fireplaces. They point out that these fireplaces use oxygen from the air and produce only a small amount of CO2 or carbon monoxide. In addition, ethanol fireplaces also produce very little C02 – an irritant that can cause trouble breathing.

Researchers from Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft (German Institute for Industrial Research and Development) studied the air quality effects of ethanol fireplaces and wood stoves in a closed test chamber. Their findings showed that ethanol fireplaces produced lower amounts of carbon dioxide than wood-burning stoves and did not create as much fine-grained particles as wood-burning stoves. But these results are not a full picture of the environmental impact of these fireplaces.

Cost of ethanol fireplaces

The operating costs of ethanol fireplaces are relatively low. The fuel consumed is lower than that of gas fireplaces, and there is no chimney or venting to deal with. The biofuels used in ethanol fireplaces don’t burn out very quickly. In fact, a single litre of biofuel will run 3.5 hours in a fully open slider. The flame size is also a factor, as the bigger the flame, the larger the fuel consumption. Bioethanol fireplaces tend to have lower operating costs than other types of fireplaces, with a typical operating time of one to two hours.

Most ethanol fireplaces cost $700 to $1,400 to install. Tabletop and burner insert models are cheaper than recessed models, and can be purchased uninstalled for around $100. Recessed models require more installation and are larger and heavier than tabletop and floor models. They cost anywhere from $175 to $325 to install. The cost of installing a recessed model is less than that of a gas fireplace, but it does require more labor.

Sizes of ethanol fireplaces

Ethanol fireplaces are available in several sizes and shapes. Freestanding models are designed to stand alone and can be installed anywhere, though they should not be placed near a walkway or walking path. Recessed models are designed to be permanently built-in and are a bit larger and heavier. These units are also available on their own for a small investment. These units are also suitable for wall installations. Depending on the space available, they can be placed in rooms such as bedrooms, living rooms, and dining rooms.

Generally, the smaller models will be cheaper than the larger ones. However, if the room in question is larger than average, a large-sized burner may be appropriate. In this case, you may want to choose a model with a higher BTU rating than the small units. Ethanol fireplaces can be purchased from $100 to $500. A good model will last for around 10 years. A good choice is to check the safety rating of the ethanol fireplace.

Placement of ethanol fireplaces

There are a variety of options when it comes to placing ethanol fireplaces. Like gas fireplaces, ethanol fireplaces can be installed in either a wall or a freestanding unit. The latter requires more installation detail and is more expensive than freestanding options. But if you’re not handy with DIY projects, these fireplaces are still a great choice. The best place for an ethanol fireplace depends on the available space.

When placing an ethanol fireplace, keep in mind that its placement is critical. Recessed ethanol fireplaces have separate burners that should be placed into their burning chamber. This installation process may vary depending on the brand of the fireplace. But the main rule of thumb is to make sure the location is as level as possible. Also, make sure to check the installation manual carefully to make sure that it’s positioned properly.
